Marci Skigen

Founder, Executive Functioning Specialist, Educational Therapist, and Special Education Advocate

Marci Skigen is the founder of Enhance EFS. Since 1997, she has worked in the field of special education as a special educator, case manager and executive functioning specialist for students in elementary through post secondary education. She began her career in Illinois, where Marci developed and implemented district-wide, special education parent support groups and procured a variety of expert speakers. This, and her role in guiding special education team members, led to Marci being honored as an Illinois Inspra award winner, which honors distinguished individuals who passionately advocate for public education.

Throughout her years of commitment to the special education community, she recognized that executive function skills were a critical factor to an individual’s success as they navigate their daily lives. It has long been Marci’s dream to build a knowledgeable company that respects a highly collaborative approach, and a deep commitment to customizing students’ experiences to fit their needs. Since its conception, Enhance EFS has done just that assisting numerous clients enhance their strengths by providing them with the fundamental tools to develop their organization, planning, implementation, time management and decision making abilities.

Marci moved to Maryland, where she continues to support educators and their families. For the past three years, Marci has served on the board of xMinds, a non-profit resource organization for parents and educators who want to improve education for autistic students in Montgomery County. Through her work with xMinds she has diligently led committees to fundraise, secure and review hundreds of grants to provide funding for both public and private educators who support autistic students. Marci is able to offer a unique lens to the IEP and 504 process as she has experience as both a parent of children with ASD and ADHD, and as an educator to those with learning differences.
